View Full Version : USB Driver Priority

It seems that I'm having driver conflict issues. I have drivers installed for pretty much every Verizon BREW phone and sometimes I won't be able to connect to the phone using the AppLoader. The only way to fix this is to uninstall the drivers and reinstall them. Needless to say this is rather annoying and frustrating.

I think that if there was a way for me to prioritize the drivers and tell the AppLoader what drivers to use it would work everytime. My theory is that its trying to use the wrong drivers to connect because there are so many installed. Either that or a way to enable/disable specific drivers might work as well. I'm running Windows XP.

Anyone know how to do this? Thanks.

You are not alone.

Everything goes to hell pretty fast when you install about the 4th cable. You can always just remove the entire USB system in Safe Mode - but you have to do it in the proper order or . . . I dunno what happens, but it probably isn't pretty . . anyway, does anybody think "Would you like to restart your computer?" is some sort of sick joke?

Microchannel with its ADF files looks pretty good next to Windows and the USB subsystem.

I'm trying to get a handle on mostly Verizon phones, and the Susteen Datapilot and Universal Cable kit is a pretty good value and seems to be reliable - but it doesn't include cables for most of the Kyocera and Audiovox phones.

I found that most of the time if I kill the OEMLayerServer.dll in task manager I'm able to restart the AppLoader and connect to a different phone. I guess sometimes if you close the AppLoader it doesn't close the .dll and this causes connection issues. I still have all the drivers installed and I don't have to restart very frequently.
