Anyone get a message stating Preparing Applications when first starting up BREW on the Sharp Z-800? What is this message?

another good soul answered a previous post of mine with the following information:
First, it does give us a suspend and resume pair, which is good. Also, it's triggered by either downloading an app from BREW Shop, or removing an already downloaded app. We saw the same thing you did (crashing on this dialog), and I just had to make sure we were handling all interrupt cases.
and a way to test it:
The recommendation from QCOM was to download an application from Mobile Shop, and then right before starting the app, hit the end call button. This should force the Preparing Applications message to be triggered when the phone is powered up and BREW is started the first time after a power up.
Of course on my phones the BREW shap gives me a 'Unable to complete at this time. Please try later' message and I am not able to test this by myself.

Hey Cory- Sorry I didn't get a chance to meet you last week; I was really looking forward to saying hi.
Here's what I know about the Preparing Applications message. As mroskothen wrote, BREW will trigger this when download status changes: an app is downloaded from the download server, or a previously downloaded app is deleted.
So, to try to "kick off" this event, try the following:
(1) Download an app from Mobile Shop.
(2) Once download is complete, and Mobile Shop prompts you to run the app, hit the END CALL button to kick yourself out of BREW entirely.
(3) Pull the battery (not sure if this is really necessary, but for good measure)
(4) Start the phone
(5) Go into BREW. QUICKLY go into your app.
(6) Hopefully, you'll get the "Preparing Applications..." screen, and can test that your app handles this properly.
Hope this helps-

I know that the question was posted awhile ago, but there is also an article in the BREW FAQ's that was recently (May 3)posted that describes what this is and how to handle it.
You can get to it at the following URL:
