We've rewritten the maxfilecnt application to meet the challenges in testing EFS full conditions on EFS2 devices. This new version is being used by NSTL for testing EFS2 devices (such as the KX2), and we recommend that you download the newer version to prevent possible issues with running maxfilecnt on EFS2 devices (such as bricking).
