Major Responsibility
Serve as a project manager for development of a ground-up wireless application product. With a potential to extend into a product manager position after launch.

The above two responsibilities of this candidate are further detailed below -
1. Will be responsible for developing and managing project schedules, managing project feature scope, managing project priorities and project dependencies, ROI Analysis, project relationship and expectation management and other generic responsibilities of a project manager. (such as the proactive identification of pitfalls that might arise, explore options and alternatives; communicating status, issues and risks to project stakeholders)

2. Will be responsible for the ownership of all non-technical project related documentation through the lifecycle of feature development, concept development and business/functional specifications for future/ongoing project(s).

3. Will be responsible for product ownership, probably with other co-owners. Product ownership involves ownership of decisions regarding product features, ensuring that features integrated take into consideration competitive analysis, effective consumer and business user experience, strategic relevance and so on.

4. Will work cross functionally across teams to define strategic vision for product lines, identify other potential opportunities in the wireless space.


Requirements
The candidate should poses the following prerequisites

1. Must be local to SF Bay Area and able to work onsite with some frequency in Larkspur, CA.

2. Should be well versed with wireless technologies. A good understanding of the following is important -
a. Wireless carrier protocols as GSM and CDMA
b. Development platforms as BREW and J2ME
c. The concept of OTA synchronization
d. NSTL certification for handset applications
e. Messaging protocols like SMS, MMS, MM4, MM7, SMPP
f. Synchronization technologies like SyncML and mobile technologies like WAP, WBXML

3. Must be experienced with the entire life cycle of wireless application development. A cradle to grave exposure to a wireless software (or hardware) product development lifecycle from concept to business specification all the way to deployment.

4. Must have an exposure to a QA cycle that involves NSTL certification for wireless applications. (BREW in particular)

5. Quality Project Management practices with exposure to rapid prototyping methodology and standard scheduling tools like Microsoft Project. (exposure to RUP and Extreme methodology is a plus) The candidate must be able to manage several concurrent projects simultaneously.

6. Must be a good communicator and a team player with the patience to iteratively evolve a featureset to rapidly evolving market needs. Some of our product lines have lengthy and rapidly evolving life cycles and hence the requirement.

7. Last, but not the least, the candidate must enjoy working on wireless application project management and have common sense.
