View Full Version : Apploader 3.x and USB 2.0? Could it be a problem?

I was using Apploader 2.x with several LG phones and no issues. I then Installed Apploader 3.x and started getting weird errors when connecting to the VX6000. After deleting one file, the Apploader would lock up, and I would have to kill the Apploader and the OEMLayerServer.exe. :(
Tying to copy a 80K log file from the phone to view as text makes the apploader hang. :(
Trying to copy a 56K mod file to the phone took way too long, and had a 50% change of hanging the Apploader.
I had also upgraded to a USB 2.0 card and bus, when I put the VX6000 back on the USB 1.1 port the errors seem to have dissappeared.
File transfers to the phone seemed to be faster, and so far hasn't hung the Apploader.
Could others test to see if they can duplicate this?
Maybe the OEMServerLayer code is has an issue handling USB 2.0?

more likely its the chipset and drivers for your new usb card
since it doesn't actually use usb 2.0, the hardware would have to be changed for that
all my dev boxen have usb 2.0

I'm using USB 2.0 as well without problems.

I had been using Apploader 2.x with my USB 2.0 for several months with no problems. When I upgraded to Apploader 3.0 is when I started having problems with accessing the phones.

We've been having similar problems where I work.. None of the available COM ports are the correct ones to use with the USB handsets on probably 4/5 attempts.
I've been looking for a place to download the 2.x tools, but haven't been able to locate them - I wish we'd saved a copy on our network.

perhaps you could request the older versions on cd:

They don't give out the 2.1 tools. I tried recently and after waiting for weeks for a decent reply they simply turned me down - though they offered up an alternative that actually worked for the particular instance why I needed the old tools.

you can copy the old tools around if you find someone who has them in your organization installed just a few registry entries and a path

two problems after installed 3.0 BREW tools
1. my 2.X BREW tools no longer work
2. using 3.0 AppLoader, I cannot load the mif file to a BREW 1.2 phone (other files in the app directory are loading OK), I wonder whether it's becoz I'm choosing BREW version = 2.x when starting 3.0 AppLoader, but there's no 1.x option available... should I uninstall 3.0 BREW tools? does any one have the same experience?
Thanks in advance!

Remove all the files for the application in question from the handset and then upload them all at once again using the "New->Module" function of AppLoader. That should do the trick.

Uploading Apps as "Modules" always seems to work for some reason. Glad it fixed your problem.
