How can I use GCC to compile brew applicaiton ?

I do like Visual Stadio. But it is so expensive that I can't afford to it .
I think that Gcc can be used to compile brew application .I tried it with Dev-C++ , but failed :(
Has anyone tried to do it ?Can you tell me how can I do step by step ?
