View Full Version : Yet another Samsung a530 + AppLoader problem

In brief: I load an app onto the a530 and it is erased when I restart the phone. I've searched through the posts here and tried all the suggestions, with no luck.

Here are the details:

*I am confident the phone is test enabled (###2 turns on debug).

*I am using a version 1.x mif file, with all 3 images included; the same mif, mod and bar files work on the vx6000, vx4400, and T720.

*I am using a test sig generated off the extranet site, based on the ESN printed on the back of the phone. (Is there any chance this ESN is wrong? Is there a way to check in the phone software for a530?) I have regenerated this and tried again many times.

*I have tried to load my app, several of the 1.1 examples, and an app sent to me by a friend that is known to work on the a530. The behavior is always the same (delete on restart).

*I have checked the time. I believe I'm in a CDMA zone; the time has always been correct when I start the phone. (The phone is not in service with a carrier, however.) I've even tried to set the time manually, but the phone will not let me reset it (I think because it has access to the network). The time on my compile machine is also correct. As far as I can tell, this time issue that has affected others is not my problem.

Please help! I don't know what else to try.

Are you certain that the ability to turn on debug indicates that the phone is test-enabled? That's a new one on me.

I have a few production phones that are not test enabled and they ALL repsond to the ###n debug sequences.

I really do think that your phone is not test enabled.

That definitely sounds like a phone that is not test-enabled, especially since the debug/service keypress codes have nothing to do with the test-enabling.

Hmm, ok. I did send it in to Qualcomm for them to turn on the test bit; I sort of assumed it had been done. Is there a way for me to check for sure whether it is or not?

By the way, this problem is long solved. If I recall correctly, the solution was setting the license to "None" in the mif -- apparently some of the phones were choking on other license types.

i have found the same problem with setting the mif license to none works. However, I have a vx6000 and i've loaded the app with a mif license of Purchase with 10 uses and it works (or worked). Now when I try to load a mif to replace one that has run out of uses the phone deletes the app on reset.

If i change the license back to none it works, but i need to have uses > 0. I've noticed that my mif file's modified date changes to 1/05/80, 16:59:47 even when i load one that I created this decade.

what gives?
