In order to have different icon images for 256 device and B/W device, I need two different MIF files. Do I submit the application for testing with both MIF files??
Thanks & Regards,
Jean

Jean The response we got back from Qualcomm on this one previously was that having 2 MIF files (one with colour icons, one with mono) will require two different apps - even if the only difference is the number from the BID file.
Our code was identical in all respects except we wanted colour icons for the Z800 and mono for the 3035b. We were forced to create seperate mod, mif and bar files to achieve this. Painful, but apparently necessary to handle billing and product identification through the mobile shop for purchasing apps.

Thank you!
So, I'd need a new class ID for mono version of icons, right? How about the application name? I assme that I'll have two different application name (e.g. my_app_256color & my_app_mono) that allows end-user to download the appropriate on for their handset?
Thanks & Regards,
Jean

Jean Correct. We had a hard time getting this information ... a lot of conflicting info out there. It became a lot clearer after talking to Qualcomm and having the Mobile Shop backend explained to us - it then became clear why different class id and app names were required. A possible naming scheme might be AppName (generic) and AppNameC (for colour) or AppName8 (for 8bit).
Another thing to be aware of is that the phones use the "icon", "thumb" and "image" graphics differently in menus. Just another twist :).
