View Full Version : downloading capability
We are developing some applications to be downloaded into any BREW phone dynamically through a cable between computer and BREW phone. I read through the user guide and only service provider and device manufactuer have access to the downloading interface module software. As a BREW application developer, it's crucial for our product to have the independent downloading capability. Would we be able to have the downloading interface module capability? If not, what other ways can we do to get around this. Thank you very much. Michael.

Apps are loaded to the phone for testing using AppLoader, which connects to the phone via the serial cable.
Do you require additional loading of you application?

Doesn't that only work for developer's handsets? Ones that have been flashed at Qualcomm?? I know we had huge troubles loading software onto a Sharp Z800 we bought retail because it hadn't been flashed.
I think the question is referring to a customer downloading a custom app to the phone in something like a corporate environment, rather than going through the certification process and downloading via the Mobile Shop.

There is a know issue with Sharp phones sold in the San Diego launch. The only way to get around it is to have your phones sent to Qualcomm for re-flashing. Over the air downloading is not effected.
If developers wish for applications not to be available to download over the BDS, and would like availability to load applications solely via the serial cable, special arrangements will have to be made. You should contact developer relations to discus this possibility.
