Wouldn't it stand to reason that Qualcomm would want to make development a bit more affordable to encourage people to use it instead of J2ME? I was thinking to teach a course next semester on mobile development, but I can't get the University to budget the money for the compilers. $1,500.00 per license is just rediculous. I guess I will just resort to J2ME. It's free.

Though QC is not supporting it (at this time), there is a version of GCC that you can use. If you contact support, and explain to them what you're doing, perhaps they could help.

p.s., A bit ago I stumbled across this project description (at Harvey Mudd College) while trying to find out about BREW and GCC (http://www.cs.hmc.edu/clinic/projectsByYear.html)

QUALCOMM, Inc. has developed BREW, a software API for ARM-based handheld
devices. BREW enables developers to write applications that can be run on
a variety of such devices, including wireless phones. The team has been
asked to reduce the cost of developing BREW applications by finding a way
to use GNU GCC within the Windows NT/2000 environment to compile BREW
applications for the ARM target, eliminating the need for the expensive
ARM compiler suite.
